Overlooking the Vilcanota River also known as the Sacred River of The Inca which is said to contain the spirit of the Inca Princess sits Qente Wasi (Hummingbird House).

There are many species of Hummingbirds that visit the property daily to feed from the native plants and flowers. The property is in the community of Rumichaka just outside of the town of Urubamba. Urubamba is a one-hour drive from the Colonial City of Cusco which was the capital of the Inca Empire.

The property area is 2300 M2 and has three structures.

There is a small guest or caretaker cottage with one bedroom, one bathroom and a full kitchen.
There is a free-standing garage with work area.
The main house has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.

The living and dining area has a high vaulted ceiling with a stone fireplace. The kitchen contains American professional equipment by Kitchen Aid that includes a 48” cooktop with matching vent hood, an electric oven, dish washer, trash compactor and a Viking refrigerator. The kitchen is finished off with solid mahogany cabinets with granite countertops. Behind the kitchen there is a full laundry facility. As you step onto the back patio you will find on the right side a complete covered outdoor cooking area.

On the left side overlooking the Inca style terraced gardens down to the river sits a 5-person Jacuzzi and a yet to be completed sauna. Along the right boundary wall runs a small stream (asequia) that falls into multiple pools on its way to emptying into the river.

This property has all the comforts and conveniences that make it a peaceful private retreat and it can easily be converted to a B&B.

The area around the property is growing with the new Cusco International Airport being built 30 minutes’ drive by car and the first supermarket in the Sacred Valley will soon break ground within walking distance from the property.

Up river in the town of Urubamba you will find restaurants, stores and a 5-star hotel, the Tambo del Inca. Downriver within walking distance is another 5 Star Hotel, Belmond’s Rio Sagrado. Further down river, about a 20-minute drive by car, is the Archeological Site and town of Ollantaytambo. There is where you can board the train to Machu Picchu.
